Top Food & Coffee Shops of Nottingham

by - February 25, 2018

If you're off to Nottingham, get fed and watered at one of these fit spots:

The Specialty Coffee Shop

50 Friar Ln, Nottingham NG1 6DQ, United Kingdom

This was our first stop in Nottingham and it was love at first sight. Why? Because the entrance to the cafe is adorned with homegrown herbs for use in their dishes. Interesting herbs too, such as 'chocolate mint'...ever heard of chocolate mint?

And then you see the gorgeous cakes standing out beautifully against the minimal white interior of the cafe which features pops of white, 'duck egg' blue, pink and black - a colour scheme I'd adopt in my own cafe, for sure. It's an award-winning cafe where you can find highly Instagrammable smashed avo and poachies as well as Huevos rancheros, as pictured. A really lovely, chilled place to have brunch plus take away options.

Outpost Coffee Roasters

2 Stoney St, Nottingham NG1 1LG, UK

Masters at coffee, these guys know exactly what they're doing. Whether you want it cold-brewed, straight up flat white or Japanese they'll pour you a quality cup that's been crafted at all stages from growing to grinding. They also sell a small range of simple food options too, all from locally sourced produce, and cute cakes.

If you've got time, you can sit down and learn from them while exploring various types of coffee in the form of a flight, a trio of tasters. And if you want to know even more about coffee and how to brew your own perfectly, you can enroll on a training day with them and become a pro. Check it out here

Miss Korea

70 Long Row W, Nottingham NG1 6JE, UK

The food and whole experience was epic at Miss Korea. Eyeing up the beautifully presented large portions sailing past us en route to  tables of happy Koreans whilst surveying the extensive menu, we wanted it all!

Spicy chicken bites (SO GOOD)

Fairly cheap too; we ordered far too much food but they happily boxed it up for us to take home. Have you ever had cold Korean food for breakfast? Stuffing spicy AF, garlicky kimchi into your mouth with a coffee on the balcony is definitely an experience, lol.

Doughnotts

26A Long Row W, Nottingham NG1 2DR, UK

Massive, sexy, fun doughnuts.

Lemon curd. I love this because it looks like an EGG but it's a doughnut it's not an EGG that would be SILLY. Silly old willy.

Good luck with the trying not to lick your lips game!

The Carvery at The Rancliffe Arms

139 Loughborough Rd, Bunny, Nottingham NG11 6QT, United

Best carvery I've ever been to, ever. So vast!

Pork belly, beef, chicken, turkey, lamb, sausages, nut roast, gammon, roast potatoes, dauphinoise, cauli cheese, red cabbage, green cabbage, carrots, other carrots, beans, sprouts, broccoli, leeks, parsnips, sweet potatoes. Just never ending dishes of food. Omg I am getting hungry writing about this now. Jesus.

It's just a cheeky 10 minute drive outside of Nottingham. Ensure you get there early to get a parking spot. Drink and carvery around £15. Banging.

Boiler Room

36 Carlton St, Nottingham NG1 1NN, UK

This is a SUPER COOL secret cocktail bar. All I will say is that, as you probably know, appearances can be deceiving. Look for a nondescript boiler shop on the main street. The whole experience is a covert operation from start to finish. They have a wide selection of non-alcoholic drinks, such as this one. Bonus: it's table service so no busy bar to compete at.
