Apple Butter Porridge With Cinnamon

by - November 24, 2017

Apples cooked down in butter poured over porridge finished with cinnamon - perfect for those cosy Autumn mornings...

I got a pressure cooker recently! [click here to find out what it does]

(It's a highly useful device and there's more on that to come so watch this space) And when Amy from SkynTherapy reminded me about the possibility of making apple butter in it I knew it was going to be the perfect twist on Jamie's Banana and Cinnamon porridge as the final Food Revolution Ambassador recipe twist in this year's healthy breakfast series!

It's been an absolute pleasure and so much fun to be featured on www.jamieoliver.com again this year and I continue to support the Food Revolution daily! Be sure to check out all the awesome recipes from the 9 other Food Rev Ambassadors.

This recipe is sexy because anything with this amount of butter is sexy, isn't it?! You can just imagine Nigella slurping spoonfuls of it when she pops down after hours for a sneaky raid of the fridge. Apple butter is basically apple sauce without the added sugar. It's rich, buttery, gooey and extremely filling and versatile. I made quite a lot more than I meant to so I am thinking of doing something to pork with it. Lol. If you don't have a pressure cooker, you can just stew the apples and butter in a small pan over a low flame for around 15-20 mins or until soft :)

Ingredients
Makes around 4 servings

3 Apples
3 large tablespoons of butter
Pinch of sea salt
Cinnamon
Oats

How To Make

Stew your apples and butter and salt until soft (I did it for 30 mins in the pressure cooker)

Add your oats to some cold water and cook over a low heat stirring continuously for less than 5 mins. I don't like porridge to be sloppy I like it coarse because then it feels more like real food and less like mush/Telletubbyfood

Top with your apple butter, some fresh sliced apple and sprinkle on your cinnamon!

Enjoy with glee x
