The psychological benefits
As we all know from drooling over pictures on Instagram of colourful fresh fruit and vegetables arranged in ways that look good enough to frame and hang in the Tate, aesthetically pleasing food speaks volumes to us by heightening our senses and overall enhancing the whole procedure of eating. Resulting in greater satisfaction at the end of the meal. As soon as we lay eyes upon it we enter the first state – anticipation. All those wonderful colours and textures to feast upon visually is a party for our brain; we envision what it will smell like and then eating it, what it will feel like in our mouths – will it be smooth? crunchy? creamy? Our mouth starts to water, our juices start flowing, and we haven’t even taken a bite yet..
