Personal hygiene doesn't get the attention it deserves. Although the basic steps of personal hygiene, such as taking a shower, brushing your teeth and washing your hands, are essential for all ages, there is much more than meets the eye when it comes to keeping your body healthy. With that in mind, here are five tips to help you maintain proper personal hygiene:

1) Full Body Exfoliation Is A Must:

Exfoliating your skin helps to remove dead skin cells and keep your pores unclogged. This will help promote healthy cell growth and prevent dirt from becoming trapped in the pore, which can lead to breakouts. You should exfoliate your face and body 2-3 times a week; however, those with sensitive skin should not exfoliate more than 1-2 times a week. Unfortunately, many forget that exfoliating is key to good hygiene and is often overlooked!

2) Your Scalp Needs Cleansing Too:

Your scalp is a complex ecosystem and needs regular attention. To keep it healthy, use a shampoo specifically formulated for your hair type. This will help remove product build-up and dirt trapped in the hair follicles, keeping your hair looking clean and shiny. You should also consider using a scalp exfoliation brush to use at home once a week to keep your scalp clean and healthy. This will help to remove any dead skin cells and other build-up from your scalp, ensuring that your scalp and roots are healthy. You can also use scalp masks - homemade or not - to nourish it.

3) Treat Yourself To Professional Facials:

Cleansing facials are a great way to keep your skin looking vibrant and healthy. Professional facial treatments use products specifically formulated for the individual's skin type, ensuring that all of the impurities in the pores are removed without causing any damage or irritation. In addition, regular facials can help combat dryness and inflammation while keeping the pores clear of any dirt or bacteria that could cause breakouts.

4) Focus On Maintaining Good Oral Hygiene:

Good oral hygiene is essential to your overall health and should be practised daily. Brushing your teeth at least twice a day with high-quality toothpaste and flossing at least once a day is important. You should also consider using an anti-plaque mouthwash to help fight against plaque and bacteria that can cause bad breath and tooth decay. Included in your oral hygiene practices, you should visit a dental clinic every six months for a dental checkup and professional cleaning. I absolutely love the Kingfisher Fennel toothpaste! It will always remind me of my Vipassana meditation retreat as it was so flavoursome when everything else seemed so muted!

5) Keep Your Ear Health Under Control:

Your ears are probably the most neglected area of your body, but it's important to give them some attention if you want to maintain good health. Cleaning your ears with a Q-Tip once or twice a week is a great way to remove any excess wax and dirt that can accumulate in the ear canal. You should also have regular hearing tests done every year to ensure your hearing is at its peak, and if there are any problems, then you will be able to identify and address them before they become a bigger issue.

By following these five tips, you can keep your body healthy and maintain proper personal hygiene. To ensure that you are taking the best care of yourself, it's important to exercise regularly, eat a balanced diet, get enough rest and practise good hygiene habits. Taking these steps will help ensure that you stay healthy and have a higher quality of life. Cleanliness is next to Godliness!
